Ulysses: A Dark Odyssey (2018) Reviews
Awful
Acting and the story are just awful, all the possitive responses have reviewd and rated all the same films, I had to check because it does not make any sense to rate them that high.
Horrible
Story and acting are absolutely horrible, which is evident really early on
Just Aweful
To be sure creative adaption, even complete inversions of archetypical characters and stories, if perfectly legitimate and often generates some of the best art. Formal structure is also not a prerequisite to a good avant-garde film. I saw, 'Ulysses: a Dark Odyssey" screened at Turin, and half the audience walked out, because even with all the above caveats, it is, in short, an absolutely terrible, jarringly bad film, and made worse by a complete lack of acting talent. Everyone involved should be thrown out of the film business.
Am I Alone?
John aka Uli (Andrea Zirio) is a PTSD veteran. The year is 2020 and Europe has become a "United States" in order to keep out refugees from the Middle east. Uli finds himself here after being gone seven years. He searches for his wife Penelope. The film feeds those who like conspiracy theories. Danny Glover likes to play chess in this film, but doesn't play Elohim. The production gives you the idea this was going to be a modern version of the classic tale of Ulysses, but falls short of expectations and not nearly as clever as "O Brother, Where Art Thou." Guide: F-word, sex, nudity.
Good
The characters seem very believable so far, few minor doubts here and there but nothing crucial; acting also up to part. Story is realistic. CGI was decent, fighting choreography (well done, sir, well done), and quite good screenplay.
